About the event

Youth2Youth4 Change, a program of Family Services and Radio LaPreferida de Beloit, will be sponsoring the second annual Celebrate Mother's Event on Saturday, May 18, at Riverside Park in Beloit from 12 to 8 pm. This free family event will be filled with joy, music, and cultural richness, emphasizing the strength and influence of Latino mothers guiding their children to being Drug-Free.

In a tribute to the indomitable spirit of Latino mothers, who are the source of wisdom and protection, the celebration is designed to be an alcohol—and drug-free event. This decision underscores the message that it's possible to enjoy a magnificent celebration and create lasting memories without the need for drugs or alcohol. The day will be an exemplary demonstration of how fun and festivity can coexist with healthy, substance-free choices.

Event Highlights Include:

Live Music and Performances: Experience the heart and soul of Latino culture with various musical performances that promise to keep you dancing and entertained throughout the day.

Food Trucks: Savory and sweet, our selection of food trucks will offer a taste of the rich culinary diversity of Latino cuisine.

Door Prizes: Attendees can win exciting prizes throughout the event, adding an element of surprise and delight to the day's festivities.

Latino Vendors and Resources: Explore a curated marketplace featuring Latino vendors, offering everything from handcrafted goods to informative resources that celebrate and support the Latino community.

This event is not only a celebration of Latino mothers but also a vibrant testament to our community's rich cultural tapestry. It serves as a powerful reminder of the critical role families play in steering young lives away from substance abuse. By participating, you're not just joining a celebration; you're standing in solidarity with a community dedicated to nurturing safe, healthy, and thriving environments for all its members.

Admission is free, and this event is open to everyone. While it places a special focus on the Latino community, we welcome people from all backgrounds to join in the celebration.

About: Youth2Youth 4 Change is a dynamic coalition that unites youth and adults across Rock County, established in 1991 to combat the region's high tobacco usage rates. Initially known as the Rock County Tobacco Free Coalition, its mission expanded in 1995 to focus on youth tobacco prevention, leading to a name change to Rock County Tobacco-Free Kids. By 2005, the coalition broadened its efforts to include environmental strategies for sustainable community change, targeting smoke-free air and addressing alcohol and drug misuse. This evolution reflected a broader vision of fostering drug-free communities, prompting another name change in 2014 to Youth2Youth 4 Change, more accurately representing its commitment to driving positive change in the community.
